WSD Improves Access to Potable Water for Cayon

Date:

The Ministry of Public Infrastructure, Energy and Utilities, and Domestic Transport commissioned the well at Cabbage Tree in Cayon, St. Kitts, on Friday, May 10, 2024, in a small ceremony near the pump house, approximately 30 feet from the island’s main road.

The Honourable Prime Minister, Dr. Terrence Drew, a key advocate for this project, attended alongside his cabinet colleagues and gave brief remarks to mark the occasion. This event signifies improved access to water and the potential restoration of round-the-clock water service for the people of Cayon and the surrounding areas.

Since taking office in August 2022, the Minister of Utilities, the Honourable Konris Maynard, has made improving access to potable water for residents of St. Kitts a priority. For residents of Cayon and the surrounding areas, it is now their reality.

The Ministry of Public Infrastructure, Energy and Utilities, and Domestic Transport formally thanks the Government of St. Kitts and Nevis, the leadership and staff of the St. Kitts Water Services Department, and BEAD St. Kitts Limited for contributing to this vital initiative.
