Authorities Assess Bay Road After Partial Sidewalk Collapse Near Thibou Ave.

Basseterre, St. Kitts (MoPIEUDT News) – The Public Works Department (PWD) in the Ministry of Public Infrastructure, Energy & Utilities, and Domestic Transport, is advising residents, commuters, and pedestrians to exercise caution when travelling along the Bay Road near Thibou Avenue in Irish Town. On Monday, October 20, 2025, a portion of the concrete sidewalk in this area unexpectedly collapsed, prompting an immediate safety response from authorities.

On Tuesday, October 21, 2025, engineers conducted a site evaluation to determine the cause of the collapse and to develop a long-term repair plan aimed at restoring the sidewalk safely and efficiently.

The Ministry remains committed to ensuring public safety and minimizing disruptions.
